The Royal Oak 17 Woodman Street London E16 2LN This pub looks a little low-rise and quite incongruous next to the surrounding post-war housing and high rise blocks. The North Woolwich area suffered badly during the war and much was destroyed during the Blitz probably due to its proximity to the Royal Docks. Thankfully the ground floor of The Royal Oak was one of the few bits to escape. The exterior is green-tiled and the side wall panel has a fine example of an early black eagle and the words “TRUMAN’S BEERS”.
